School Reviews
1 10/9/2020
There are only about 2-3 teachers I remember from my time there who were kind, fair, and good at teaching. These were the only classes I enjoyed going to. Most teachers are average at best and the worst don't care and are actively mean to students (there were several with the latter reputation). I am convinced I watched a security officer break the law once, and one of my math teachers liked to talk about how he didn't believe in the Holocaust in class. I had the worst years of my depression here and I leave it with almost exclusively bad memories. I, without exaggeration, would regularly (several days a week) have homework that exceeded five hours (including non-AP courses), and teachers do not care if you have other work to do. I had no time for distressing or doing anything I enjoyed because my entire routine was school, homework, sleep, which was the main contributor to my depression. Classes teach to the test (except for the small handful of good ones), so there is no review until a bit before the final. You basically have to reteach yourself a year's worth of content for every class for finals when they're cumulative (almost always). Teachers often get offended or annoyed if you ask why we need to learn something and will just insist that it's because it's on the curriculum. The classes are also mostly boring and structured entirely in the format of listening, taking notes, and occasional group work. I don't remember almost anything from 90% of classes there. That's not an exaggeration. Most of the classes were entirely useless,, and I did not retain anything (I graduated about two years ago). With how tired I was from the early mornings of getting to school and late nights of too much homework, how boring classes were, and how badly this was affecting my depression, I was just struggling to do enough to survive and get through every day. I really hated it there and I know my friends feel the same (I just told them I'm reviewing BG and they said to leave a bad review). This school only has a good rating because most students don't review it or don't feel like writing this all out. This was absolutely the consensus with everyone I spoke to regularly there. It was very rare to find a teacher who was nice and had a good class. I gained more bad memories and health problems from stress than I did useful knowledge. I even had a grey hair from junior year, which was the worst.
