I love this school!

My Child Soared. She graduated in the top 1 percent. We were always informed what was happening, and if not, schedule a conference to kept on top of grades and college admission paperwork. Her ACT test scores were a 34 and she went on to a top 15 college in the US (outside of FL). I always heard more complaints from the two-parent households which always cracked me up. Step up your game. Rules are good, it teaches your kids discipline, and so many of the students needed it.

I love the school and the majority of the teachers that my son had it over the last four years. Yes, some rules are ridiculous but better to have rules and good results then to have freedom and do nothing. Be ready, dress codes are required: no shorts for boys, no flip-flops, cell phones just for emergency, etc. I love discipline! Admin office is helpful too, you have to respect them; they are trying to do their job but not always the answers depend on them. Covid had a big impact, we all had to adopt new things, so did the school and the teachers. It was a stressful period for all but my boys love coming to school every day, even with all the changes. Principal always greets students in the morning :) My counselor K. Nymark is amazing. Always quick responses to the emails, very helpful and knows what she is doing. I am glad that my youngest son also joined this school and look forward to couple more years! Thank you!

Most teachers care about their students, teachers at Osceola range from horrible to amazing, it really depends on what you get. For the administration, I'm trying very hard not to be biased but they're overall very blunt with students. They don't seem to care too much about mental health, and more about what you wear and who says what. They like to believe gossip over what's true. I will also put in that I have recently been taken out of Osceola, right in the middle of the whole social distancing and spring break, because of the virus that has been spreading; and they would rather me transfer to a different school than me proceed with my classes, which causes a lot of stress on my part and also stress on my new school that has to deal with the virus and online classes, and then me needing to get new classes and new teachers all from home. Do they even realize how stressful and unneeded that is? Trust me, I'm happy to get out of that school, but with what, 30 days left? what's the need honestly they don't care about my health and how I have to adjust to things. there are one or two administrators that are nice and treat students fairly, but the majority treat students like they're wasting their time and are quick and loud and unthoughtful. They really need to step up they're game in the office, students need empathy just like anyone else, if not more.

parents are allowed to contact teachers as well...unless you have 140 something children, you have no ground to stand on that it is the teachers responsibility to contact parents...we are not babysitters, student-responsibility and parent-responsibility are paramount...if the teacher does not respond to your e-mail within 48 hours, contact administration and schedule a conference...by contract, teachers have 10 school days to input grades (after due date of assignment) into the grade book before a complaint can be registered.

I have to say that I WISH the teachers were more "hands on" with parents. They call to tell you if your child is tardy/late to class (etc.) but neglect to tell you if your child is struggling with anything or if grades are slipping. You can only get so much info from the Portal ... and that is only IF the teacher can keep up with it. My child is a great student so I was very surprised to see there were some troubles in a certain class. Hmmmm. Priorities MUST be reexamined PCSB.

They let me know when my child was wearing flip-flops. Yet, neglected to tell me before it was to late that my child was failing in certain classes. get your priorities straight.
